City Streets is a community band of around 10 musicians based in Exeter. With the help of a millennium award from the Jewish Music Institute, I have attendended Klezfest in London on two occasions and we have organised workshops in klezmer music led by Merlin Shepherd, Basil Bunelik and other musicians from Troika. We have been performing a programme of authentic East European Jewish music for a series of bookings in spring and summer 2002. A further series of workshops followed including a visit by members of the Klezmer Conservatory Band from USA and plenty more street performances of this wonderful music.
